The Island Rallysport club is based on Vancouver Island, in B.C. Canada, organizing events throughout B.C.

Affiliations

The Island Rallysport Club (IRC) is affiliated with the Canadian Association of Rallysport (CARS), and Rally Pacific Motorsport (RPM), and the Confederation of Autosport Car Clubs (CACC).

Activities 2010

Time Speed Distance (TSD) rallies, both on gravel and tarmac (regulated speeds) - Oct 29
Rally School, with emphasis on car preparation and navigation (not high speed driving) - needs expressions of interest
First Aid Training modified for motorsports - needs expressions of interest
Amateur Radio Training - Feb 5 (Fri evening) and Feb 6 (all day Sat.) To be conducted under the auspices of the Cowichan Valley Amateur Radio Society
Rally Cross - Feb 21, Mar 21, Apr 18, May 16, Jun 20, Jul 18, Aug 15, Sep 19, Oct 17, Nov 21
Solo II (when venues are secured)
Fun rally (on a contract basis)
Performance rally work crews, or full event (when venues are secured)

Meetings

As always, the meetings will be at 5 p.m. at the Duncan United Church hall at 246 Ingram Street in Duncan.

For 2010 the meeting schedule is as follows:

Jan 3, Feb 7 (note exception: meeting at 6 p.m.), Mar 7, Apr 11 (avoiding Easter the week before), May 2, Jun 6, Jul 4, Aug 8 (cancelled), Sep 5 but probably will be moved to Sep 12 (avoiding the Labor Day weekend), Oct 3, and our AGM Nov 7, Dec 5. The awards night will be Nov. 27

Membership

Membership is open to all, regardless of home address. Family membership is $60 annually and individual membership is $40. A new membership application is requested each year, to ensure current contact information. Memberships card are issued upon payment. Memberships paid after October 1 in any year are good till December 31 of the following year. (As agreed to at the RPM AGM in Feb. 2009, the RPM section of the form includes an authorization by the applicant to allow sharing of their contact information with the RPM Board of Directors for contact purposes from RPM.)
Benefits include various discounts, priority registrations, supplemented training fees, membership in sanctioning bodies (CARS, RPM, CACC), and the chance to compete for the full gamut of IRC perpetual trophies.

History


Became a Society: 1958
Founding President: Bill McMillan
Beginning as NSCC, the Nanaimo Sports Car Club, it’s name remained till 2002, when it was officially changed to the Island Rallysport Club. Over the years, membership had shifted to cover most of southern Vancouver Island, and activities had primarily become rallysport.
